Remsen, Iowa · a small focused studio
studio conners is a small problem-solving studio in Remsen, Iowa. We build things, fix things, research things, and figure things out.
You don’t need to know what kind of help you need. Start with the problem. We’ll tell you whether we can help — and often we can build the answer too.
01 / 02
There’s one way we work — a Studio Day on one problem. There are two ways a problem gets to us.
01 — you come to us
a request
Tell us what you’re trying to solve, make, or understand — in plain words. We read every request, think about it, and tell you whether and how we can help. If a Studio Day is the right shape for it, we’ll propose one.
We consider a broad range of problems, including small ones. A request isn’t a booking and it isn’t an obligation on either side.
No obligation. No sales call. We’ll just tell you if we can help.
tell us what you’re trying to figure out →02 — we come to you
an invitation
Sometimes we spot one specific problem or opportunity and make the first move — often with a concept or a concrete direction already in hand — then send a private Studio Day invitation for that one problem.
The invitation is where available days, the agreement, and booking live. It applies to the named problem, not to you forever, and there’s no obligation to accept it.
One problem, already thought about.
the studio day
$500 · one day
One focused working day on one problem, question, opportunity, or build. Nothing else on the bench. We work remotely from here in Remsen.
One problem. One day. See what we can make of it.
a day might end with
The result isn’t decided in advance — that’s the point. You’re not buying eight miscellaneous hours, and you’re not starting a consulting relationship. You’re handing us one thing to focus on completely.
You don’t spend the day with us. We work while you get on with your day. We just ask that you stay reasonably reachable by phone, text, or email so we can keep moving if we need a question answered, a file, access to something, a decision, or a quick course correction. During your Studio Day, you can reach us throughout the workday.
At the end of the day you get the final work we hand off, along with a Studio Day Debrief: what we worked on, what we accomplished, where things stand, and what you should know next.
things people actually say
None of these are menu items. They're sentences someone said out loud — in plain words, without knowing what to call it. That's all we need.
“I need a website for my new business.”
build“We do this ridiculous thing by hand every week.”
automate“I have an idea for an app.”
prototype“I want research before I spend the money.”
research“Our own process confuses our customers.”
untangle“Nobody can tell what we actually do.”
clarify“We're paying too much for this system.”
audit“I can picture something, but I need someone to make it.”
makeBring us the problem. We can often figure it out—and sometimes build the answer too.
work from the studio
Some things start with a client problem. Some start with one of ours.
Concepts, Originals, and selected Client Work.

concept · studio conners
We spent a day figuring out how Studio Conners should make vertical video — and discovered that the soundtrack needs to become part of the planning process, not something added after the edit is already decided. We found a new vertical-video production model built around an audio checkpoint, dedicated production days, and the beginnings of a Studio Conners Video Desk.

concept · ObsessOS
ObsessOS crossed the line from a carefully specified idea into a live system we could actually use: one human, one question, one day.

concept · studio conners
Our first Studio Conners Obsession turned a loose idea into a clearer one-day service, a real home on the web, and the beginnings of a business identity we could keep building.
the studio
studio conners is run by Shawn Conners in Remsen, Iowa. Shawn is the person you’ll normally talk to, the person responsible for your Studio Day, and the person accountable for what gets handed back to you.
